Marcell Esterházy:

He graduated from the Intermedia Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2003. He was awarded the Lucien and Rudolf Hervé Special Prize in 2004, the Studio Prize in 2009 and the Derkovits Scholarship in the same year. His works are held in prestigious collections such as the Ludwig Museum, the Marseille Contemporary Collection, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Dunaújváros Institute of Contemporary Art and numerous private collections. His photographs, installations and video works are regularly exhibited in national and international exhibitions. In Hungary he is represented by acb Gallery.

The new exhibition at the Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art aims to provide an insight into the recent history of contemporary French art through the eyes of the winners and nominees of the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025. The Centre Pompidou in Paris, a prominent French contemporary art institution, has been a partner of the privately launched prize since its inception, which has played a major role in promoting French contemporary art and the international careers of the nominated artists, and has grown over the years to become one of the most professionally recognised national art prizes at global level.

The guided tour is by programme ticket only.

Ludwig Museum

The Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Müpa, is the first museum in Hungary to exclusively collect contemporary art. In addition to a permanent exhibition of the collection donated by the Ludwigs and a number of temporary exhibitions, the museum aims to raise awareness of the works and their creators through special publications and a variety of art education and art education programmes.
