THE CONCEPT OF THE LELKI TÁRS - SOULMATE EXHIBITION
Szabolcs Bozó's playful, sometimes dramatic and sometimes humorous scenic world is based on the history of classical Hungarian animation and its well-known figures. Bozó does not copy, but continues to create from memory the figures he knew as a child, so that they populate his canvases and make his painting compositions exciting. His colourful, large-scale paintings are now challenging works of contemporary painting, sold and exhibited primarily by, among others, his exhibition partner Carl Kostyál Gallery in London, Milan and Stockholm. The Budapest exhibition is both about the domestic presentation of Szabolcs Bozó and the methods of contemporary art management, an artist's unique way of asserting himself.

Our main aim, however, is to show the transformation that Szabolcs Bozó's art has undergone in recent years: from a category that in professional circles has been called ‘cutism’, ‘cuteness’, to a direction in which the psychological and social status of the painted figures has become, if symbolically, part of the meaning of the picture. His single-figure paintings, painted early in his career, in the context of the worlds of Yoshitomo Nara and André Butzer, were a simplified, self-consciously naïve approach. But in the present, multi-figure paintings, the ironically or grotesquely painted figures are also put into relation with each other. They can also point to other art historical references, and in the light of the works of James Ensor, Lajos Gulácsy and Menyhért Tóth, one can see the

A NEO Kortárs Művészeti Tér küldetése, hogy a legjelentősebb kortárs képzőművészeket bemutató kiállítótérré válhasson Budapesten a Városligetben. Ha nemzetközi párhuzamot keresnénk akkor talán a londoni Kensington Gardens parkban található Serpentine Gallery áll legközelebb a NEO által kitűzött misszióhoz: elhelyezkedésében, megjelenésében és funkciójában. Célja, hogy aktív szakmai együttműködést alakítson ki szakmai szervekkel, művészeti felsőoktatási intézményekkel, valamint nagy hangsúlyt kíván fektetni a művészetek edukatív célú közvetítésére minden korosztály számára. Projektjeivel aktív szerepet vállal aktuális kérdések feldolgozásban és társadalmi felelősségvállalásban.
