Rétság is a small town located in the northwestern part of Nógrád County, Hungary, at the border of the Börzsöny and Cserhát mountain ranges.Situated 55 km north of Budapest, it lies along the E77 main road, halfway between Vác and Balassagyarmat.Covering an area of 19.78 km², the town has a population of approximately 3,000.Rétság's history dates back to the ownership of the Losonczy family, and the settlement experienced significant devastation during the Ottoman conquests.The St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church was built in 1726, and the railway connection was established in 1908.The town was granted municipal status in 1989
