Schedule

The Roma community is one of Europe’s most vibrant and culturally rich minorities. From the elegance of Spanish flamenco to the captivating energy of Serbian brass bands, Roma music embraces Europe and the world, spreading the Roma spirit of joy. Their culture blossoms alongside the Hungarian nation, bearing fruit such as restaurant-style Gypsy music, Olah Roma traditions of music and dance, and Hungarian string folk music.

The concept originator, coordinator, and main organizer of the International Roma Song Day is Mihály “Mazsi” Rostás, a globally recognized musician in his own right.

Performers in Szentendre:

BALÁZS ELEMÉR GROUP

Balázs Elemér founded one of Hungary’s most successful jazz bands, the Balázs Elemér Group, in 2000. The band quickly won the hearts of audiences with its debut album Around The World. Since then, it has become a regular performer at both Hungarian and international jazz and world music festivals and clubs. The band has so far released eight albums and a concert DVD, delighting its growing fanbase.

World-renowned jazz guitarist Pat Metheny had this to say about Elemér:

“In my opinion, Elemér is one of the best drummers in the business today. He plays with incomparable musicality and sensitivity. He listens to every musical moment with such attention and makes such excellent, spontaneous decisions on stage that he enhances the performance of his fellow musicians. He touches his instrument with great finesse. I always enjoy playing with him—and listening to him just as much.”
