Buja Budapest - városi séta
👠 Garters and Tolerance Cards
Luxurious muses of questionable past and light, frivolous loves.
Strolling among the erotic memories of historical Budapest, we will explore the daily lives of courtesans of the past and their guests.
We will visit locations where the walls tell stories of intriguing police reports, shocking public health records, flamboyant brothel ladies, and even adventurous tales of lovers.
Our walk in Buda will revive stories from bygone eras related to sexuality, prostitution, and deep-rooted social taboos.
We will explore not only the emblematic locations of the former metropolitan courtesan life but also its inner, emotional, and social world.
The lush life of old Buda will unfold through the letters and writings of literary greats such as Gyula Krúdy, Frigyes Karinthy, and Ernő Szép.

A city has as many faces as the number of people who walk its streets, and like a good book, everyone can read their own story from it.
This literary walk, supported by Könyves Magazin, invites you to discover Budapest, illustrated with excerpts from both classic and contemporary literature.
“Budapest’s shape is defined by the mood of the person who looks at it.
Come, come, whoever you are, create your own Budapest.”
(Péter Esterházy: The Look of Countess Hahn-Hahn)
