Frankie (Ariella Mastroianni) is a young mother suffering from a rare condition: she cannot properly perceive the passage of time. To better navigate the world, she records her thoughts about life on cassette tapes, which she must live out of order. After being fired from her job, a mysterious woman hires her for a seemingly simple task. However, this assignment takes unexpected and dangerous turns for the time-confused woman.

Ryan J. Sloan’s striking debut premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. This tension-filled auteur thriller follows in the footsteps of Christopher Nolan’s time-juggling crime films (MementoThe Prestige) and the neo-noir films of the 1990s. Cinematographer Matheus Bastos shot the film on 16mm celluloid, creating grainy visuals, while the brass-heavy soundtrack builds a unique atmosphere. Ariella Mastroianni, co-writer of the screenplay, captivates and unsettles the audience with her minimalist performance.

Bem Cinema

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
