Free screening for students + discussion - Blue Heron // BIFF 2025
Watch the award-winning film Blue Heron and join the discussion!
The Budapest International Film Festival (BIFF) is organizing free screenings for students aged 14-19 who are actively enrolled in secondary education.

Schedule
Watch Blue Heron, a Canadian film co-produced with Hungary that won awards at the Locarno and Toronto International Film Festivals, then join us after the screening for a discussion on questions such as:
- How should we deal with a problematic child/classmate?
- Should those who cannot behave be separated?
- Where do psychological problems begin?
The film is partly based on director Sophy Romvari's own childhood. The main characters are Sasha and her family, who move to a new home on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s. However, their new beginning is disrupted by increasingly dangerous events linked to the family's eldest child.
After the screening, we will talk to the director of the film, followed by a discussion to conclude the event.
Date: October 27, 2025 (Monday) 1:00 p.m.
