Although the scientific treatment of metal music in the Anglo-Saxon language area has a history of several decades, its spread in Hungary is even less demonstrable. The scientific conference to be held at the Department of Aesthetics of ELTE BTK would be a first step on the path towards the establishment and legitimization of the discipline.

The aim of the event is to provide a platform for the presentation of research on metal music and to promote dialogue between different disciplines, pointing out that the topic hides diverse and serious theoretical challenges. The conference will feature presentations by researchers who think about the artistic, social and cultural characteristics and frameworks of metal with the help of the disciplines of music, literature, culture and art history and theory, as well as aesthetics, philosophy or sociology.
