Zones of Opacity – The Central Exhibition of AWB
This year, Art Weekend Budapest opens with the central exhibition “Zones of Opacity”, which also marks the first presentation of the STRABAG ART collection in Hungary. The exhibition features a selection of works from the collection, expanded with invited artists, presented according to Krisztián Gábor Török’s curatorial concept.

Schedule
„The exhibition invites us to recognize that visibility is never neutral, often a privilege, while opacity, like a figure beyond frosted glass, is a space for protection, for preserving one's own narrative. Based on the STRABAG ART collection and expanded with invited artists, the selection, as the central exhibition of AWB, reinterprets this year's theme - See and be Seen -through the concept of "the right to opacity" by Martinican writer Édouard Glissant.
The visual and conceptual tensions that unfold between the works rethink the relationships between vision, visibility, and concealment - pointing out that visibility is not only a possibility but often a privilege, while opacity can be a space for protection, autonomy, and freedom.”
