David Helbock & Julia Hofer Duo feat. Harcsa, Raab, Mirarab (AT/HU/IR)

David Helbock, one of the leading figures of Austrian jazz, has appeared at Opus several times. For his latest duo project, he invited bass guitarist and cellist Julia Hofer, who has mainly made a name for herself in pop music. Their first album, Faces of Night, was released by ACT Music and immediately made it onto The Times' list of the 2025 best albums. The album combines quiet, dreamlike compositions with groovy jazz pieces that bear the signature of both musicians. The exceptional sound experience is created by inventive effects, the percussive use of the piano, and dynamic shifts between the cello and bass guitar. The concert will be one of those rare occasions when all three guest musicians from the album will join the duo live: jazz singer Veronika Harcsa, trumpeter Lorenz Raab, and Mahan Mirarab, who plays a special Persian guitar.
