In the middle of a botanical garden stands an ancient tree. Lonely, like all the other inhabitants of the garden—thousands of kilometers away from their natural habitats, so we can admire and observe them. Just as we watch them, they also observe us. They bear witness to our short, tangled, noisy, and restless lives.
The film tells three stories, depicting three hesitant encounters between humans and plants, when these two radically different forms of perception briefly connect. Our human protagonists, like the garden’s plants, are outsiders—lonely souls. And they long for connection, just as the plants do.
Bem Cinema
In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
