✽EX-VOTO HEART / METAL EMBOSSING WORKSHOP
We’re doing it again! We’re organizing another ex-voto heart–making metal embossing workshop with visual artist Erika Baglyas, founder of the DOT FOR YOU brand. During the workshop, we’ll create ex-voto hearts from thin metal sheets using hand embossing techniques. All tools and materials are provided, no prior experience is required.
Schedule
During the workshop, you’ll get to know the process of metal sheet embossing, the materials, and the tools. You’ll receive several ex-voto heart patterns that you can freely use. Using pre-drawn paper templates, we’ll emboss metal heart decorations by hand. There will be time to create multiple pieces, and you’ll also be able to make and take home 1 framed ex-voto heart.

WHAT DO YOU GET AT THE WORKSHOP?
Professional guidance, materials, and tools. Printed paper templates to help you create your own unique metal ex-voto hearts. You can choose 1 picture frame and colored background papers to create your framed ex-voto heart artwork.
You’ll have time to make several metal ex-voto hearts, and you can take home 1 framed piece as well, which you’ll frame yourself by choosing from the available frames.
WHAT DOES EX-VOTO MEAN?
EX-VOTO means: “from a made vow,” an object offered in gratitude. The “Sacred Heart” motif has a rich iconography, and many types of ex-votos exist. During your travels, you may have encountered them in both religious and secular spaces. An ex-voto (or milagros) is a votive offering, an object made as a vow and given or offered as a sign of gratitude. EX-VOTO or MILAGROS refer to religious folk charms traditionally used for healing purposes and as votive offerings in religious folk art. In Spanish, “milagro” means miracle.
