Tennessee Williams’s timeless masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire, is presented in the cult production of London’s Young Vic Theatre. Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall, Sex Education) stars as Blanche DuBois, with Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley, and Vanessa Kirby (BBC’s Great Expectations, The Crown) as Stella.
When Blanche’s fragile world begins to crumble, she turns to her sister Stella for comfort, but her spiralling depression ultimately brings her into conflict with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski. Director Benedict Andrews, known for his visionary productions, returned to the Young Vic with this play following his multi-award-winning Three Sisters.
Premiering on stage in 2014, the production became the fastest-selling show in the Young Vic’s history, earning widespread critical acclaim and numerous five-star reviews. It is also one of NT Live’s most popular titles, seen by 1.2 million people worldwide.
