What if rainbows were actually time travelers crossing the sky?

In the not-too-distant future, a lonely little girl named Iris notices a strange rainbow drawn in the sky by a figure clad in a colorful cloak as it sweeps across the heavens. Arco, the boy who fell from the sky, has arrived from the end of the millennium, from a city built above the clouds, as a result of a failed time travel attempt. Iris offers the boy shelter and does everything she can to help him return to his own time. As they flee, a tender friendship blossoms between them, opening up Arco’s future world to Iris: a more humane, brighter era.

Ugo Bienvenu’s debut feature-length animated film, which premiered in Cannes and went on to win the Grand Prize at the Annecy Film Festival, is a touching and heartwarming tale of two children who find each other during a timeless journey through time. With the lyricism of Ghibli animations, subtle humor, and magical fantasy reminiscent of The Chronicles of Narnia, Arco tells the story of how an unexpected visit from the future can give the present a new purpose.
