Agathe (Camille Rutherford) works at the legendary Parisian bookstore Shakespeare & Co. While holding down a day job, she nurtures dreams of becoming a writer, though she has been suffering from writer’s block for quite some time. Alongside her passion for literature, she eagerly awaits a grand, Jane Austen-style, passionate romance, and since she’s currently single, she immerses herself with delight in the author’s romantic works.
When her best friend (Pablo Pauly) arranges for her to receive an invitation to the Jane Austen Writers’ Retreat in England, Agathe gets the chance to finally experience her own Jane Austen moment… but instead finds herself in the middle of an unexpected love triangle. To fulfill her romantic and professional dreams, Agathe must confront her own insecurities and decide what she truly wants.
Laura Piani’s film tells the story of the beauty and difficulties of love, the challenges of creative work, and the existential crisis of the thirty-something generation in a lighthearted and entertaining way.
