In a large body of his documentary photographs, Ádám Urbán offers a glimpse into the daily lives of various professional collectives. Through his long-term work, he portrays the nature of activities taking place in workshops as an insider attuned to the internal dynamics of these communities. In addition to depicting the physical environment of these places, he is primarily interested in the role and situation of people. He has long studied the unique environment of flora and fauna developing in enclosed spaces and has worked in numerous domestic and international zoos and botanical gardens. Having become acquainted with the diverse scope of work at the National Botanical Garden in Vácrátót, he was drawn to the idea of documenting the intensive processes of scientific work. Through the relationships he built with the garden’s staff, he spent a year photographing in Vácrátót.
