How does the same thought transform when brought to life through the bodies of three dance artists from different cultures and movement languages?
Mono Shifting combines the genre-specific intimacy of solo dance with the power of collective creation. It consists of three solo dances that—though significantly different in their technical backgrounds and perspectives—connect along a shared conceptual and choreographic arc. Thus, the performance reimagines the contemporary idiom of solo dance through experimental means: three radically different works have emerged from a single thematic starting point, articulating universal questions through individual movement languages.
At the heart of the creation lies thinking and remembering through the body. In this interpretation, the solo form does not represent loneliness, but rather a concentrated presence: the dancer’s body acts as a living archive, where movement is simultaneously reflection, question, and answer. The performance creates a layered emotional structure where silences, breathing, and the direction of focus are just as emphasized as the movement itself.
The "shifting" in the title refers to the internal process through which the creators abandon familiar and safe artistic solutions to open the way for new modes of perception. In this minimalist yet intense aesthetic, the viewer is not an outside observer but an active participant, connecting to what is seen through their own associations and memories.
