💥 Once again 👯 WOMEN, SOCIETIES AND POPULAR FILM 👯 film club at Aurora! At the Sparkle Film Club on 4 July at 19:30 we will watch FLASHDANCE together. The choice of film may seem unusual at first, but the film with one of the biggest fanbases of the 80s - which was also one of the most hated films by critics at the time - is a great opportunity to discuss issues of female perspective vs. male perspective, as well as romantic relationships between classes, Cinderella stories. But also sexual liberation and erotic films of the 80s will be our topics. Join us for a screening and a discussion! 👩🏭🩰💃

💥 In the film club, we will discuss the ideological layers of popular films through dramaturgy, characters, the visual world, but also the place of the films in the industry. We have tried to select films that are rich in both different gender roles and socio-economic meanings.
💥 Talking about popular films can be enlightening because in such films we find patterns that lie deep in the social imagination, as the genres work with different schemas that can shed light on the era. Genre film is not a perfect mirror of society, but rather a social construction that itself produces reality from a particular position of power.
🩰 FLASHDANCE (1983) 💃
This musical film is the coming-of-age story of a young girl who finds herself caught between two worlds. Alex, a girl who works as a welder by day, performs as a dancer in a bar at night. Her dream is to one day become a ballet dancer. But she is only willing to put her talent and dancing skills to the test, rejecting outright the support her beauty deserves, as well as all other forms of protection.
