Schedule

The basic story of Love in the Time of Cholera explores the threads of a love triangle, but it says much more than that. Spanning decades, the work depicts love, ageing and human life in general through its three protagonists in a wide-ranging, sometimes realistic, sometimes bizarrely surreal way.

At a time when the world is changing before our eyes, the novel is perhaps more timely than ever to revisit its central themes of waiting, patience and human fates and issues. Are we doing all we can to get what we want? Do we struggle to stop our fate being controlled by others?

Is our happiness only made meaningful in the mirror of another person? Can we accept ageing and passing away? Do we live our lives as we really want to, or have we long since resigned ourselves to a complacency that blinds us to the illusion of happiness?
