Schedule
The right day in Imre Oravecz's oeuvre is halfway between the poetic synthesis of The Fishing Man (1998) and the coming-of-age masterpiece The Departing Tree (2015). There is a kind of noise, a rearrangement: the cycle of Fragmented Spotting seems to be a complement to The Fishing Man, while the motifs of another cycle, The Bird Diary, rhyme with the observations of nature in The Tree of the Departing.
In the poems of this volume, everyday situations are given an existential framework. Descriptions, diary entries, musings alternate on the pages of the volume, sometimes with lyrical enlargements, sometimes with epic perspectives. It is this duality that creates the realistic and metaphysical character of the volume: life and death are both an everyday reality and a philosophical problem in this poetry. The mood is essentially elegiac, counterbalanced by the poet's characteristic grim self-irony.
