From the MCs and breakers showing off their latest moves in rap battles, to the DJs matching their virtuoso moves and the writers creating visual masterpieces, the 'battle' is where hip hop's disciples and masters honed their skills, found community and celebrated the culture in its most winning and authentic form.

Thanks to the shift in emphasis over the last decade, instrumental hip-hop music is no longer just about providing a backdrop for lyrics. Many producers have achieved success in their own right, with beats alone, and have become listened to worldwide.
Accordingly, a layer of people in Hungary has also developed, obsessed with sampler-laid drums and sound patterns.
For the fourth time, the #A_Network collective is organising Beatperpatvar, providing a space for the country's best beatmakers to go head-to-head, to the great delight of us all. In early 2017, late 2018, after a break in late 2022 and now in 2023, we're inviting everyone from young fanatics to the grand old pioneers to the same place again. The following 6 pairs will perform their latest beats in 1-1 hour bids,
while we nod our heads until dawn...

Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
