At certain stages of our lives, our lives are intertwined with people with whom we bring out the worst in each other, wittingly or unwittingly.

Many people have been trapped in relationships where they have been abused or have become abusive themselves. Some people recognise the signs quickly and are able to leave these bonds behind, but others can stay in a relationship for years, even for the rest of their lives.

Petra Guzmics: Black Square

Petra Petra Petra Guzmics. Standing in front of the painting at the Museum of Fine Arts exhibition, I observed that through the use of simple form and primary colours, the artist had shed the limitations of concrete/figural representation and elevated expressivity to a transcendent level. This cannot be a coincidence, as Malevich believed that the creation and reception of a work of art is an autonomous, wholly independent intellectual activity. And the mysticism of this experience is best served by pure colour and form. Watching Black Square, I felt that I had reached a zero point with painting (and within myself). The father of Suprematism had created a black tabula rasa: 'zero form' and 'the void behind feeling.'
