Frigyes Karinthy is twenty-five years old when he elopes under adventurous circumstances with his great love, the actress Judik Etel, who has three children. Hiding from her husband's wrath for six months in Berlin, they marry in Budapest, after spending a large sum of money to appease him. The writer gives the name Boga, from the nickname "bogarka, bogaram", to her beloved couple, who fall victim to the Spanish flu epidemic that breaks out after the First World War. Karinthy writes in his diary after his wife's death: 'I feel that a tumour formed in my brain when she died...' Almost two years later, taking seriously the invitation of a telephone joke, the grieving man meets the then still married woman, the doctor Aranka Böhm. The passionate Aranka, who conquers all men, has been colouring the everyday life of a marriage with her emotional storms for a decade and a half, when Karinthy, who has always thought of Boga with an unquenchable love, has to undergo surgery in 1936. The writer, hovering between life and death, struggles with two women at the same time, Boga in his imagination and Aranka in reality...
