The 13th edition of the Francophone Film Days, 2-12 March, at Uránia and Toldi cinemas, Art+ Cinema and the French Institute, will screen 26 contemporary Francophone films - including several award-winning films - in their original language with Hungarian subtitles.

On 1 March, the opening film of the 75th Cannes Film Festival, the comedy "Bartender!", will open the event at the French Institute. There will also be a gala screening on 4 March: The romantic comedy Where are you, Bojangles? starring Virginie Efira and Romain Duris. Lionel Baier, the Swiss director of On the Continents (South), François Descraques, the director and two of the leading actors of Enya Baroux and Florent Dorin, the director and two of the leading actors of I came, I told you, I would return, will hold an audience meeting. There will also be a professional programme and a hip-hop street dance competition.

Location

French Institute

Founded in 1947, the French Institute of Hungary is one of the oldest foreign cultural centres in Budapest. The Institute was first located in Szekfű Street, and since 1992 it has been located in Fő Street, on the Buda side.

The multi-disciplinary cultural centre has a language school and examination centre, a media bar, a cinema room, an information corner on studying in France, a bookshop and a café on the ground floor.

By fostering educational, scientific, inter-university and cultural cooperation, the French Institute in Hungary aims to strengthen links between Hungary and France and to promote the free flow of ideas and opinions.
