Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize-winning artist Ilona Keserü celebrated her 90th birthday on 29 November, and to mark the occasion the Hungarian National Gallery is presenting a selection of her graphic oeuvre spanning seven decades, from her youthful pencil drawings to soft-lined ink drawings and vibrant screen prints. The 63 works in the exhibition come from the artist's studio.

Ilona Keserü, Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize-winning painter and graphic artist, an inescapable figure of contemporary Hungarian art, will celebrate her 90th birthday on 29 November 2023. To mark the occasion, the Hungarian National Gallery will pay tribute to the artist with an exhibition of her graphic oeuvre - her works on paper, drawings and reproductions of her prints. The selection presents more than seven decades of works on paper, a career that spans from his apprenticeship with Ferenc Martyn to his vibrant screenprints and soft-lined ink drawings. The exhibition includes 64 works selected from the artist's Budapest studio, including some that have never been shown to the public before.
Hungarian National Gallery
The Hungarian National Gallery is the largest public collection documenting and presenting fine art in Hungary. The permanent exhibitions of the museum, located in the Buda Castle Palace complex, showcase the most important works of Hungarian art, including masterpieces by Master MS, Pál Szinyei Merse, Mihály Munkácsy, József Rippl-Rónai and Dóra Maurer.
