Swan Lake
I wanted to reimagine Swan Lake in a different light from the classical ballet version that many of you are familiar with. In my reading of Siegfried, he is a young man with a fractured consciousness, held captive by the traumas of his childhood relationship with his mother.
Schedule
Every character and event in the play is, in fact, a projection of Siegfried's vision, his inner world. He himself sits in a room all the time, projecting his own good and bad self onto the characters of Odette and Rothbart.
The dance theatre production can be seen as a kind of psycho-drama, a psychoanalysis if you like. Nevertheless, it was important for me to turn Tchaikovsky's powerful and brilliant music into images, to make the music visible through the language of dance.
National Dance Theatre
On 15 February 2019, Budapest's unique new cultural arena opened its doors: the new National Dance Theatre in Millenáris Park. The building, equipped with the latest theatre technology and featuring unique architectural solutions, offers two theatre halls and a chamber hall for dance lovers, as well as rehearsal rooms for professional dancers. The foyer of the building will also become a community space open to visitors to the park, giving Millenáris the opportunity to become even more part of the capital's bloodstream.
