The story is set in Budapest, Hungary. The scenes take place simultaneously in abstract space, sometimes flowing into each other.
Instead of rebellions, we live in an age of self-digestion and disintegration. The focus of our performance is on desperate people out of place. Workers, shopkeepers, doormen, stuck in their lives. In their own chattering, stumbling way, with their incomplete means of expression, they are looking for a way out in a smiling but stubborn way, asking for the basis of their own existence, according to their temperament, some with black humour, some with a frozen state, some with a rage shouted into the world. We see people at their wit's end, in the moment before the fall.
The performance gives us a glimpse into the inner workings and life struggles of four people as their paths cross.
Sandra, a tanned shop cashier, reveals that her life strategy is to eradicate her soul like a tormenting tooth-root infection. Csaba, the top manager, is forced into a frog-march, at which point he realises that he is unable to continue his life on a crazy track. Feri, the tower-crane operator, rips out of himself the stormy anger that has been building up in him over the city, provoked by the world's meanness. Lehel, the office building receptionist, watches the active lives of others more and more paralysed day by day, fearing that they are slowly fading and becoming transparent.
The scenes are created from a sometimes musically rhythmic mix of internal monologues and dialogues.
Jurányi House
The Jurányi Production Community Incubator House has become a key venue in the capital's cultural life, a vibrant hub of the contemporary art scene.
Our aim in creating the Jurányi was to find a stable, shared home for the independent theatre and creative arts sector, providing the infrastructure necessary for its day-to-day operations. We wanted to create a cultural centre in the Buda area, a "contemporary art house" where theatre-loving young people could spend a few hours over a coffee or even a theatre performance, a creative children's activity or an acrobatic movement class, thus re-filling the abandoned educational institution with an active community life.
Jurányi is more than just a theatre in Buda, it is a creative and creative base where visitors can enjoy a varied artistic, community, and educational program, in addition to a regular repertoire of 300 productions a year. We are proud that the Jurányi House is now a graduation subject in some art schools.
