Béla (László Szacsvay) is a stubborn old man who lives alone and finds change difficult to bear. When his son puts him in a nursing home after a minor accident, he feels the whole world is conspiring against him. From then on, he is driven by a single goal: to get out of the institution as soon as possible. His plan is to find a partner in another outsider, the wild 17-year-old Zoé (Berlin Silver Bear winner Lilla Kizlinger - Plenty - I See You Everywhere; Explanation for Everything), who works at the home as a punishment. Although there is almost sixty years' age difference between them, their similar characters, their loneliness and the feeling that they are in everyone's way quickly make them allies.

Something Birds deals with the previously neglected subject of elderly care in Hungarian films with a charm and humour reminiscent of Lifetime. The film was made under the Incubator Programme of the National Film Institute.
