Ecstasy invites the audience to explore. It invites you into a constructed mini-universe; an alternative Budapest labyrinth condensed on stage. The multi-stranded, multi-timeline multimedia event follows the daily lives of a group of young people as they search for the answer to the simple question: how to be well, or at least better. Using the language of music, dance, theatre and film, the unique world of Ecstasy is created. Immersed in this world, each viewer can construct his or her own narrative out of dialogue and images.
Is the state of happiness sustainable? If so, does the community or the individual have a greater role to play? How do Generation Y and Generation Z see the future of Hungary? Is it possible to get out of the vortex of cyclically recurring problems or can only an artificially created refuge within the social system help?
Jakab Tarnóczi
ecstasy (Greek eksztaszisz, 'exit', Latin exstasis), rapture, ecstasy, trance, in the Old Hungarian language rüttetés, elrüttetés (röptetés): in general terms, a state of being under stress, in which the connection with the material world is weakened or completely suspended by something of natural or supernatural (divine or demonic) origin, which affects the senses or consciousness.
The lecture is recommended for people over 18 years of age.
Katona József Theatre
For more than 40 years, Budapest's best alternative theatre has been delivering excellent plays every season, admittedly aimed at the city's young people.
