1905. Elárverezik a párizsi Operaház teljes hajdani berendezéseit. Többek között egy csillárt, amely a kikiáltó szerint egy máig sem tisztázott baleset okozója volt. A baleset tetteseként az Operaház titokzatos Fantomját emlegették.

Kigyulladnak a csillár fényei, és egyszerre régi pompájában ragyog fel az egykori párizsi Operaház. Felidéződik egy nagy szerelem története. Szereplői: Raoul, a romantikus fiatal gróf és Christine, a bájos, tehetséges énekesnő. Kettőjük között azonban ott áll egy titokzatos harmadik személy, aki mindent elkövet boldogságuk ellen.
A rejtélyes harmadik: az Operaház Fantomja, aki a színház alatti labirintusban él. Ez az ember nem riad vissza semmilyen eszköztől, hogy elnyerje Christine szerelmét.

There is still an “era” in the Madách Theater. The era of the rise and success of musical theater. Both performances were directed by Tamás Szirtes, who was elected director of the Madách Theater in 2004.
