A special career for Klara Kolonits. She is probably the only soprano in the world to have sung Judith from The Bluebearded Prince's Castle before The Queen of the Night. It was an incomprehensibly long journey of nearly a decade before Klára Kolonits arrived at the Opera, where she immediately made her debut in the leading role of Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte. Since then, she has not been unfaithful to Mozart, and has been given worthy roles in all the works in the Salzburg genius's repertoire. The soprano has found her true home in the world of national and international bel canto heroines. In addition to works by Bellini, Donizetti and Meyerbeer, she was able to show off her special technique in such rarities as Donizetti's Stuart Maria, performed in Szeged. But just as important to Kolonits are the works of Erkel, and in addition to Erzsébet Szilágyi and Melinda, he has also sung Mária Bátori and Erzsébet Bátori for live recordings. His CD Bel Canto Reloaded has also attracted international attention.
Hungarian State Opera
The Hungarian State Opera House is the only theatre in Hungary with a large company, specialising in operas and ballets. The building is one of Budapest's most important 19th century monuments. It was built in neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of Miklós Ybl. The richly decorated interior was designed by renowned Hungarian artists, including Mór Than, Károly Lotz and Bertalan Székely.
