Bird-faced Arni works as the all-rounder for a ramshackle travelling circus touring the countryside. The troupe is a family, where Árni is the only outsider. The boy lives his days in monastic simplicity, tending the circus animals and carrying out the tasks assigned to him by the family. One day, a new python arrives at the circus. The animal arouses Arni's curiosity and as he begins to tame it, the process has an increasingly powerful effect on him.
