GUIDED TOUR - ECHO

"Norbert-László Bálint explores man's struggle with his self-image in his solo exhibition ECHO. In mythology, Ekho is the nymph of echo, whose ability to speak was compromised by a curse: he could only repeat the last words spoken to him. The material in the exhibition explores the consequences of an inner voice, never articulated, that shapes our perceptions of ourselves, which, in the absence of investigation, is amplified and leads to a total obscuration of reality through a distortion of our perception of the self. The images depict figures caught in extreme and precarious situations whose vulnerability confronts the viewer with an individual experience of anxiety. The figures, compressed into frames, writhe in a fearful spell of bodily decay."
