Longing for his mother, young Mahito ventures into a world where the living and the dead coexist. In this place death ceases and life restarts. The latest anime by Hayao Miyazaki (Chihiro in Ghostland, The Wandering Palace) is a partially autobiographically inspired fantasy about life, death, creation, and a tribute to the significance of friendship.
