Ratko Zjaca Triology (HR/CU/AT)

The name of guitarist and composer Ratko Zjaca appears across a range of genres and amongst the contributors to countless international albums, but his best-known projects are rooted in modern jazz, experimental world fusion and improvisation, where he can unfold his unique, artisanal musical world, ranging from intimate stillness to searing intensity. The recently formed Triology also fits into this strand of his work; in this ensemble, he performs original compositions alongside Roland Abreu, a double bassist of Cuban origin who has found a second home in Europe, and the Austrian drummer Klemens Marktl. In their hands, this seemingly classical line-up becomes a source of astonishing sonic and instrumental solutions, in which ideas flow freely, yet the enthusiasm and passion driving the musicians never for a moment fade into the background of the compositions.
