In the next episode of “Convent Debates,” historians Pál Hatos and Péter Hahner will address the most pressing questions of modern European and Hungarian history. 🎙️
How did we become democratic nation-states? Were today’s republics forged through bloodshed or through the ideals of the Enlightenment? Can we, as Hungarians, become a modern nation without a successful bourgeois revolution? And if that train has already left the station, what can we do to create a unified, modern bourgeois nation-state that transcends tribal conflicts?
A discussion spanning centuries, revolutions, and wars—about our homeland, freedom, and what still lies ahead for us...
If you’re craving a profound, serious conversation with historians that tackles the big questions, this will be your night.🫵🏼
