The protagonists of the film, based on the book by László Krasznahorkai, live in an agricultural machinery farm switched off from all kinds of useful production. For them, all value in relation to which they could determine the meaning of their lives has already ceased; everything has dissolved in time, in the periodic change of the seasons, they themselves are slowly becoming part of the universe. The feeling of desolation that destroys everything is broken by only one desire, the desire to escape that appears more and more strongly. They all make petty plans, of course at each other's expense, rocking themselves in the illusion that by robbing and deceiving each other, their own future will be solved. A sign of their fatal lack of confidence is that even in these nefarious plans they falter, they are actually unable to carry them out. In fact, they are all waiting for a Messiah, the one who will lead them out of these miserable everyday lives, save them from this all-absorbing cascade of rain and mud, the one who will absolve them of their past sins.

Bem Cinema
In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
