Studio Ghibli is known for such outstanding animated films as Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and The Wind Rises. For the first time since its founding, the studio has welcomed a foreign filmmaker into its ranks: Oscar-winning short-film director Michael Dudok de Wit was given the opportunity to create his first feature-length film under their wing.

THE RED TURTLE, which won a Special Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes International Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Feature Film category in 2017, is the result of nine years of intense work. The film was produced by the legendary Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The Yamada Family, Pom Poko), who is also renowned as a director.

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
