Bella is a quiet, solitary girl. When her mother remarries, she sends Bella to live with her father in a small town called Forks. There, her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets the mysterious Edward. He is not like other boys: he is intelligent, witty and extraordinary, having not aged since 1918. Edward is, in fact, immortal, like a vampire. Yet he does not crave blood; his family has chosen a different way of life. A passionate relationship develops between the two young people. However, Edward finds it increasingly difficult to keep his instincts in check. To make matters worse, his old enemies also resurface.
