Váczi Dániel Glissonic Trió, vendég: Jonas Kullhammar (HU/SE)

2026-08-26T18:00:00.000Z

What happens when you combine the tarogato with the violin? The result is the Glissotar, the first member of the Glissonic family of instruments. This unique instrument, which won both the Grand Prize and the Audience Award at the 2022 Guthman Musical Instrument Competition in Atlanta, is the invention of Dániel Váczi, developed in collaboration with designer Tóbiás Terebessy. The main innovation of the Glissonic instrument family is that, instead of sound holes, a longitudinal slit running along the body of the instrument and a magnetic strip covering it are used to control pitch, allowing the player to perform long glissandos, tremolos, and microtonal notes—and the instrument is also capable of producing unusual, unique effects. In 2026, as part of a successful Kickstarter campaign, the second member of the instrument family—the flute-like Glissopipe—was unveiled.

Dániel Váczi explores the possibilities inherent in these new instruments with his trio. His partners in this endeavor are two pillars of the Hungarian free and experimental jazz scene: Máté Pozsár, with whom he also plays in the band Decolonize Your Mind Society, and Zsolt Sárvári Kovács, with whom Dániel has been making music in various ensembles for more than twenty-five years. The trio’s debut album, *Rebus*, was released in 2021, followed by *Interplanetary Posts* in 2024 and then *Urobo*.

Their current program features a selection of material from their previous albums, supplemented with new compositions and concepts. The evening’s guest will be the outstanding Swedish saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Jonas Kullhammar, one of the first musicians to play the Glissotar.
