Born of Our Being
How do we define ourselves? Where do I begin, and where do my inner tremors meet those of another? In Hungarian, the word for our innermost being, encompassing both body and soul, is lényünk – our very essence. Beyond our social roles, it points towards a more elemental inner landscape, where we can discover answers to these questions through a deeper understanding of ourselves. Balancing on the threshold between the familiar and the unknown, this performance explores our sense of identity with an intimate and sensitive gaze.
Head to Head
The performance traces the fragile dynamics of human relationships, from vulnerable intimacy to the alienation of the modern world. The movement gradually becomes faster and sharper, while moments of humour offer relief from the tension. Ultimately, this deeply personal work offers hope, reminding us of the strength within ourselves and the people who support us.
Bolero
What emerges from within us when the structures that govern everyday life begin to dissolve? As the repetitive rhythm and mounting intensity of Ravel’s Boléro unfold, an elegant, majestic ritual takes shape on stage. Movements, glances and encounters gradually become part of a shared ceremony.
Carried forward by the music, new layers begin to emerge: the desire for connection, the search for community and the fundamental impulses of human existence. This gradual progression evokes both discipline and surrender, order and the release of emotion. Boléro thus becomes a mesmerising ritual in which the deeper, timeless forces of human nature reveal themselves beneath the glittering surface.
National Dance Theatre
On 15 February 2019, Budapest's unique new cultural arena opened its doors: the new National Dance Theatre in Millenáris Park. The building, equipped with the latest theatre technology and featuring unique architectural solutions, offers two theatre halls and a chamber hall for dance lovers, as well as rehearsal rooms for professional dancers. The foyer of the building will also become a community space open to visitors to the park, giving Millenáris the opportunity to become even more part of the capital's bloodstream.
