Hugo Race Fatalists (AUS/IT)
Hugo Race is a legendary musician and producer from Melbourne and a founding member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, where he played guitar from 1983 to 1985. He was also a member of the legendary Australian band The Wreckery (1984–1989) and continues to record and perform with The True Spirit, Hugo Race Fatalists, and the world-music project Dirtmusic, alongside his many other projects.
His latest release, I Made It All Up For You, is an epic album recorded with his Italian band Fatalists. It presents existential songwriting framed by the band’s fusion of roots music, electronica, Italian soundtracks, and desert rock.

The band features Giovanni Ferrario (Scisma, PJ Harvey) on guitar and synthesizer, Francesco Giampaoli (Sacri Cuori, Brutture Moderne) on bass, and Diego Sapignoli (Sacri Cuori) on percussion. I Made It All Up For You is emotionally intense and, at times, remote and haunting, yet wonderfully narrative. It is a true lo-fi slow burn and an essential listen.
