About the play
Few names have become as legendary as Casanova’s. One of history’s most famous womanizers, his adventures have inspired stories, books and myths for centuries.
But what remains of the legend when we take a closer look at the man behind it?
Bence Szécsi’s new play brings Casanova’s world to life by blending contemporary elements with historical authenticity. Here, Casanova is more than just a master of seduction: he is a passionate thinker, a curious observer and a man who always lives in the moment. The years, love affairs and glasses of wine blur together, while every encounter sets a new story in motion.
Women, secrets, misunderstandings and unexpected twists shape a world in which seduction is simultaneously a game, a strategy and a means of escape.
Using an unconventional theatrical language, the production tells this intriguing story through a small ensemble of actors who continually transform into different characters. The elegance of the past meets the fresh perspective of the present, revealing a familiar figure in a new light: both legendary and surprisingly human.
Because the story of seduction is, in truth, always the story of two people.

Thália Theatre
In the Thália Theatre, the focus is on light-hearted entertainment, in the spirit of the "Pest Broadway" of Nagymező Street. The Thália Winter Garden, inaugurated in 2019, is a little more serious, while the Arizona Studio is home to independent productions. In 2017, the capital reaffirmed its confidence in the management, with Gábor Kálomista applying for the post of managing director and Géza Bereményi as an advisor.
