FANTASTIC PLANET / La Planète sauvage
FANTASTIC PLANET
(La Planète sauvage - in original voice with Hungarian subtitles)
color, subtitled, Franco-Czechoslovak animated film, 72’, 1973
written and directed by René Laloux
cast (voice): Jennifer Drake, Eric Baugin
***Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.***
The setting of the story is the planet Ygam, ruled by the technically advanced giants “Draags”. Their goal is to exterminate what they call stupid, parasitic humans known as “Om”s. The film follows the journey of Terr (Om), who is kept as a pet, as he escapes the Draags and heads a group of rebellious people. The story is a kind of analogy to the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia.

Bem Cinema
In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
