Chihiro, a ten-year-old, headstrong little girl, is convinced that the whole world revolves around her - which is why she is unable to accept moving to a new city with her parents, and does not even try to hide her disappointment during the trip. When they get lost in the forest and reach the end of a strange dead end, the little family comes across a dark tunnel, at the other end of which they are greeted by a ghost town.
In the empty streets, the tables are crumbling with a princely feast: hungry parents eagerly throw themselves into delicious food, but soon turn into pigs when the real dinner guests appear in the city. The inhabitants of the hidden fairy tale world are ancient gods and other miraculous creatures, and its ruler is Yubaba, the evil witch. Chihiro can only save his parents if he makes himself useful in Ghostland and finds a job in the banya's huge bathhouse.
