Schedule

The exhibition “Breuer, Goldfinger and Other Hungarians: Brutalist Architecture at Home and Abroad” is currently on view at Walter Rózsi Villa. The exhibition explores the internationally influential Brutalist architecture of Hungarian-born architects, placing their work in both Hungarian and international contexts.

How can a controversial architectural style become an exciting topic for the classroom? What interdisciplinary knowledge goes into designing a building? And how can concrete, creativity, mathematics, art and urban planning come together?

We invite educators to a special professional museum education programme at Walter Rózsi Villa, where we explore the possibilities of making one of modern architecture’s most distinctive movements — Brutalism — accessible, engaging and inspiring for students.

Available dates in autumn 2026:

Programme

1. STE(A)M-focused guided tour

We will explore the current exhibition through the intersections of science, technology and art. Alongside aesthetics, we will discuss engineering solutions, materials, hidden meanings in architectural forms, social impacts and historical events.

2. Cityscape design workshop

Following the guided tour, participants will take part in an interactive museum education workshop. Approaching urban planning through film and photography, we will explore related professions and experiment with ways of making conscious environmental design and sustainable urban planning more tangible and engaging for students.

The programme offers practical perspectives and inspiration for integrating modern architecture and technological thinking into the curriculum — from visual arts to physics. Based on these first-hand experiences, we also recommend the programme for school groups at the end of the academic year.
