„Waiting for eternity came to me after having contact with Budapest's monumental sculpture complex. Arriving with handmade sketchbooks, in the tradition of traveling painters, I realized that history is being played out in the public space. With the city landscape resembling a chessboard, figures and historical monuments are brought in or taken out, highlighted or remade, displaced, and brought back. Together with the grandiose figures of yesterday and today, other human figures occupy the space: old dolls in shop windows and forgotten student sculptures. While they depict the human body as well, their scale prevents them from entering history. They remain anonymous, intimate, sometimes satirical. Through this use of scale, materials, and positioning, we decide what is bound to be engraved in history and what will forever remain incomplete, waiting for life."
Brito is our most recent artist to take part in the Budapest Gallery's Artist Exchange Programme, run in partnership with the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.

A Budapest Galéria a Főváros kortárs képzőművészeti kiállítótere. A galéria programja kéthavonta változó időszaki kiállításokból áll, amelyek érzékenyen reagálnak a város és a régió aktuális társadalmi kérdéseire. A kiállítási program egyaránt teret ad a fiatal, feltörekvő művészeknek első egyéni bemutatkozásukhoz és a középgenerációs alkotóknak praxisuk széleskörű megismertetéséhez, de a (főként) közép-európai fókuszú nemzetközi, tematikus csoportos tárlatokhoz is.
