Amélie, a naive young woman, lives in Paris, in Montmartre. Her life is monotonous; she works as a waitress in a local bistro and maintains such close ties with her neighbours that it feels as though she were living in a small town. But one day, an unexpected turn of events occurs: in a secret nook of her flat, she finds a small box containing the childhood mementos of the previous tenant. She resolves to return the little box to its rightful owner. From that moment on, her life changes radically, and she realises that, in some way, she is able to make those around her happier...
