The Legacy of Native Sense is a duo formed within the walls of the Liszt Academy of Music that draws inspiration from the shared musical world of Chick Corea and Gary Burton. The project takes its starting point from the album *Native Sense*, reflecting a musical approach that emphasizes openness, curiosity, and the natural convergence of diverse influences. The collaboration between Corea and Burton is particularly exciting because their playing simultaneously embodies the improvisational freedom of jazz, the precision of classical musical thought, and a sensitivity to Latin American and folk music influences. In their work, technical proficiency is never an end in itself, but rather a tool for musical communication built on spontaneity and mutual attentiveness. “For us, Native Sense primarily represents a creative attitude in which respect for tradition and the personal search for a musical path are not in opposition to one another, but rather reinforce each other. This duality forms the foundation of the group’s identity and also serves as the starting point from which our musical thinking draws its inspiration,” said the two young musicians.
