Márton Stummer – Afrosamba Quartet, featuring Dominik Kosztolánszki (HU/BR)

The repertoire of Márton Stummer’s acoustic ensemble consists of Brazilian guitar songs and his own compositions. Afrosamba blends elements of Brazilian samba and Afro-Brazilian jazz. Whilst building on this style, Márton Stummer’s compositions draw on elements of classical music, jazz and contemporary music alike, whilst also leaving room for free improvisation. The main source of inspiration for the quartet’s sound is the playing of the Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell. Dominik Kosztolánszki, one of the finest saxophonists of his generation who is equally at home across a range of styles, joins the ensemble – a move that has almost become a tradition. The title of their new programme and concert is *Coisas mágicas* (magical things), referring to the portrayal of magical realism in music.
